Close Safari popover using the click in popover button

I am working on a Safari extension that displays a popover when a toolbar button is clicked. I added 2 buttons to popover cancel and save. I want to reject a popover when I click the buttons. How can i do this?

I tried using self.close (), but as soon as I click on any of the buttons, the popover closes, but does not appear again when I click on the toolbar. (The button on the toolbar does not register a click).

Give it a try safari.self.hide().
