How do applications using the Google App engine, cloud storage, data storage work in China?

Development of a large-scale mobile application for enterprises (android / iOS / Web) that will use Google Plaform - appengine, cloud endpoints, cloud storage, data storage, etc.

Are the following Google services blocked in China:

  • Google app engine
  • Google Cloud Storage
  • Google Cloud DataStore

If not, can we

  • Store data collected by users of China outside of China? Data contains personal information of users.
  • Use reverse proxy to serve users in China.

How does an application using Google services (GAE, GCS) work in China? Do they use AWS?

thanks

Open AppScale ( http://www.appscale.com ). It allows you to run GAE applications outside the Google infrastructure. Current AppScale users / clients either work at Amazon or at their data center to bypass the Chinese firewall. See http://go.appscale.com/resources/use-case/chicos for white paper.

The domain appspot.com is blocked in China. You can overcome this using your own domain. This does not work with cloud endpoints because you cannot use custom domains for Cloud Endpoints . You should also be able to use CNAME records for custom domains with cloud storage and cloud data storage.

As long as your applications comply with Chinese law, you should have no problem using Google services with custom domains.
