Detect iPhone volume button? (iOS 8)

Is there a way to determine if any of the volume buttons on the iPhone are held down?

I know that you can determine if it was pressed , but I need to know if it is held.

This is not realistic, but you can have an approximation starting the timer every time you get a button press of the volume button, since you will receive several events in a row when the button is held down. If every time you restart the timer when the button is released, the timer starts and you can do whatever you want. 0.5 seconds worked for me.
