Bluetooth error LE 133 disables

I am calling mBluetoothGatt.readCharacteristic(data) to my application that is connected to a Bluetooth LE device. Sometimes the corresponding onCharacteristicRead() method is called with a status of 133. Immediately after this error, the device will be disabled by Android (the state will be disabled).

Does anyone know why error 133 occurs and why the device shuts down Android after that? How can disconnect be disconnected?

Thanks Ben

I had a state of 133 when connected to a Bluetooth device that I connected to earlier, but the firmware has changed since the last time I connected to it. I was able to fix this by clearing the bluetooth cache of my Android device (turning bluetooth on and off).
