Increase the maximum URL length on Azure sites?

I have web.config with the following lines:

<requestFiltering> <requestLimits maxUrl="25000" maxQueryString="25000"></requestLimits> </requestFiltering>

This allows me to access URLs of up to 25k characters, including the query string. However, when I publish on the Azure website, it completely ignores this specific part of my web.config, but I cannot find any restrictions published by Microsoft.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Internet Explorer has a maximum limit of 2000 characters or something like that. Why do you need such a long URL? I think something is not suitable for best practices, if so. What is the maximum URL length in different browsers?
