Native function for scanning a QR code

I am trying to figure out how to scan a QR code using Google Glass. I managed to figure out some questions about this, and they all referred to other libraries, and they were pretty old (a year or even older).

I found that google adopted the issue to make the QR code scanner that comes with google glass available to developers. But since then I can not find newer information about this.

Is it still possible to use our QR code scanner in our own applications, or do we still need to go with third-party libraries?

I am trying to do the same, and it seems that this is not yet possible. In the end, I used zxing. And since new versions of XE do not appear ... the qr reader can perhaps be used with a future version on the stack.
