There are no iOS simulators if the deployment target is set to 8.3

I'm still new to Xcode, but I recently ran into a problem that puzzled me. As far as I can tell, right after I upgraded to 10.10.3 and to Xcode 6.3, any new projects that I create have no iOS simulators available. If I change the deployment target to 8.2 (from 8.3), they will be available again. But as long as I leave the installed deployment target for it to 8.3, I can only see the "iOS device", and not a single iOS simulator is specified.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Xcode, but I still get the same results. Does anyone else have this problem and you know about it?

I had a similar problem with the original poster (Bill Matthews). On my MacPro (early 09), but not on my MacBookAir - both with the launch of 10.10.3, and with the new Xcode 8.3 (over beta version 3) - I could not get any simulators to be displayed, regardless of the purpose of the assembly iOS (A temporary workaround was debugged on the real device after it was selected from the menu "Product" β†’ "Destination" β†’ "Unacceptable devices" β†’ {my iPhone}.)

I tried to remove the simulators in ~ / Library / Developer, but could not reinstall them; in the settings-> Downloads-> Components will be displayed as installed / disabled, even after a reboot, despite the fact that they are removed. The same result even after deleting the component folder and ~ / Library / Caches / com.apple.dt.Xcode / Download and reboot. The same result even after deleting all ~ / Library / Developer, unlike Bill Matthews (Mazel Tov!).

In abundance of caution, I reinstalled 10.10.3 from a combo update (not the AppStore), and then Xcode 8.3 from developer.apple.com (and not the AppStore).

This is a trick for me. YMMV.

I had the same problem. If you are using fastlane, the easiest way is to use the following command.

fastlane snapshot reset_simulators

After that, I was able to see the latest simulators.
