Difference between Active IR Image and Depth Image in Kinect V2

I just got confused about the difference between the active IR image and the Kinect v2 image depth. Can someone tell me what features of Active IR images have compared to image depth?

In the depth image, the pixel value refers to the distance from the camera measured by the time of flight. For an active infrared image, the pixel value is determined by the amount of infrared light reflected back to the camera.

Sidenote: I think there is only one sensor that does both of these. Kinect uses reflected IR to calculate flight time, and then also makes it available as an IR image.
