Exchange Web Services (EWS): Send “meeting invitations” for meetings stored in the public folder calendar

This has already been mentioned in stackoverflow ( Appointment.Save and Appointment.Update to always set IsMeeting to true ) that EWS has restrictions on how meeting invitations cannot be automatically sent when creating new calendar items / appointments in a shared folder.

Since I really need to send the meeting to the calendars of various participants, I was wondering if anyone had ever found a workaround for this strange behavior (I can't even find a way to send meeting requests programmatically).

The only thing that works is to forward the calendar item to the participants address, but this is really not an option, as it makes the meeting available only as an attachment in an email.

on msdn they have a sample that creates and sends an invitation

link msdn

but this will not work for public folders:

"The reason it should not work is because public folders do not publish busy information. You cannot invite a shared folder to a meeting and you don’t see if a shared folder is available."
