Homebrew container option not recognized?

I’m following an online resource for installing two Mac utilities

Here is the relevant section:

Install both Carabiner and Seil. (Again, if you are using Homebrew Cask, you can do this with

$ brew barrel install carabiner and

$ Brew barrel set SEIL

But the barrel option is not recognized?

06:51:35/shared $brew cask install seil Error: Unknown command: cask 

Then, just for fun, I tried the command without a barrel:

 06:55:01/shared $brew install seil Error: No available formula for seil Searching formulae... Searching taps... Caskroom/cask/seil 

It is not clear what the last line of output means in general: it seems that nothing happened in the system.

I am in Yosemite.

To use brew cask , you must install it, this brew extension is not native.

To install it, you need to run brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask from the command line

Homebrew Cask or Homebrew Cask Github Homepage

brew tap caskroom/cask

brew install brew-cask

You are now ready for brew cask .

You can also just brew install Caskroom/cask/seil . He will automatically choose the right barrel for you :)

One more thing to check that it can be installed but not connected:

 $ brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask Warning: caskroom/cask/brew-cask-0.59.0 already installed, it just not linked 

This is easily fixed at startup:

 $ brew link brew-cask
