R files in the capital and lowercase. Difference?

Someone gave me some "R" files. Some of them are saved with an expansion of capital "R", that is, ".R", and some are saved with an extension of lowercase, that is, ".r".

I can open lowercase letters in order, but do uppercase letters say permission denied?

My questions: - How does this happen? I can not contact him to get the source files. - What is the fundamental difference between saving in ".R" and ".r"?

Thanks.

There should be no difference. If you get permission to read any files, you need to change the permissions so that they can be read.

If you use unix, you can use the following command, assuming you have files.

chmod u+r <filename>
+4
source
