Android: establish a Wi-Fi Direct connection with network devices

Passed the Android documentation and had a few doubts:

  • Using "Wi-Fi direct" in Android 4.0+, can you establish a connection pragmatically with a NON-enabled Wi-Fi direct network device?

For example, is it possible to establish a connection with an old smartphone (with Android 2.2 OS) with the latest Android smartphone based on Android 4.1. I want to use the direct Wi-Fi capabilities to do FTP work on various types of smartphones (Android, iOS)

Thanks.

I am using an APP called FileDrop, which seems to me to have the same feature set that you are looking for.

Here's how it works: 4.1 the phone becomes GO and generates a Wi-Fi password so that the older phone can connect to it using outdated Wi-Fi, like connecting to a Wi-Fi access point. You can also use QR scanning instead of manually entering a password.

I hope you can get a sample code from them.

Sorry for the real help.
