Is there an easy way to get points with a black outline in gnuplot?

Is there an easy way to get dots with a black outline in gnuplot? I use standard color dot types, for example:

set style line 3 lc rgb '#4682B4' pt 9 ps 0.65

but I need to make sure that the plot will be easy to read in the black and white version. Black outlines help, how can I add them?

The simplest โ€œquick and dirtyโ€ solution that comes to mind is to build a dataset twice, once with a full character style, and then with an empty character style. For instance:

plot "temp" pt 9 ps 2, "temp" pt 8 ps 2 lc 0 lw 2
