Well, unfortunately, proximity to a session is only available for balancing network load. Just left a feature request: https://code.google.com/p/google-compute-engine/issues/detail?id=240&thanks=240&ts=1442238732 .

This feature has been released, but is currently in alpha phase.

Client IP Priority

Note. The generated cookie affinity seems like a much better option. Solves two problems related to IP affiliation, as indicated in the link.

The sticky session feature now extends to the Google Cloud HTTP (S) load balancer. We can have a session affinity of either Client IP or Client Cookie . See the documentation for more information.
