There is no menu folder in an Android studio project.

I am new to android and android studio.

I’m studying a book for studying Android, I want to create a menu for my activity, but in the project structure window I can’t find the menu folder and sample menu files.

I attached a screenshot of my Project Explorer:

Not all folders are created automatically with new projects. If you need it, just right-click the mouse when the pointers are above the res/ folder in your project, select New... → Directory and name it menu and then you put the XML menu files in this folder.

Below are the steps to create a menu folder in res:

  • Right click on res
  • New → Android Resource Directory
  • Name your directory and set the type of resource as a menu.

Created your menu.

Right-click the res → New → Android Resource Directory folder:

Select "Menu" from the resource type:

Click OK:
