How can I resolve the error I received while installing Microsoft SQL Server 2016?

Add SQLRUserGroup to Allow Local Logon.

If you cannot change the group policy, temporarily add the users MSSQLServer01 to MSSQLServer20 to the local administrator group.

Click Retry SQL Installation and use the log to confirm that all MSSQLServer<ID> users are administrators.

C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft SQL Server \ MSSQL13.MSSQLSERVER \ MSSQL \ Log \ ExtensibilityLog \ EXTLAUNCHERRORLOG

Error in the log file:

LogonUser Error for user MSSQLSERVER 01 . ErrorCode: 0x80070569.

When all MSSQLServer1-20 have access to complete the installation.

Check the Detail.txt installation log if this is during startup of the SQL Server startup service. If yes, then:

  • Provide great opportunities for local privileges for all users of MSSQLServer01 for MSSQLServer20 (as an alternative, you can add them to the local administrator group - not recommended)
  • Start the SQL Server Startup service from SQL Server Configuration Manager or from services.
  • Click "Retry" in the setting. Setup will continue.
