How to enable local (e.g. offline) help in SSMS 2016?

Let has a simple

SELECT 'a'

Whenever I press F1 on a SELECT keyword, it is offline installed , SSMS 2016 launches a web browser to display online help.

I want F1 to open local help for the SELECT keyword.

What i have done so far:

  • Help menu> Adding and removing help contents , added books SQL Language summary link , Books on the Internet strong>, Developer's reference guide , therefore the help page for SELECT (Transact-SQL) now available in the reference index.

  • Migrated help repository from C: to a more convenient place.

What else needs to be done?
Maybe the option "I want to use local help" in the help settings? But it is no longer in SSMS 2016.

I also looked at the registry and looked for the correct registry key that listened to SSMS using the Process Monitor tool, but SSMS did not seem to read anything similar to the online option when I pressed F1 .

  • If you think the above steps to enable local help should be sufficient, consider continuing to publish the bug report to Microsoft .

UPDATE: a problem occurred in SSMS 2016.4.1 . On the download page:

Fixed a bug where F1 Help always opened online content. Users can now choose whether they prefer online or offline help through the "Set Help Settings" in the "Help" menu.
