I am working on a Chromecast Hello World app for Chrome browsers, but I ended up in a roadblock when I tested it on my Android device. As far as I can tell, there is no way to drop the Chrome tab directly on Android. The only option is to display the entire screen.
I found the old reddit thread and the even older Google Cast Help Forum thread . None of the sources makes it possible for it to display the tab of a mobile website on Android.
Itβs really hard to believe, because I donβt see anything internal about a web page on a mobile device that would prevent it from being compatible with Cast. What am I missing?
The current status of the cast on the mobile device is as follows:
- Transfer audio / video content from the Chrome mobile browser.
- Casting from native mobile apps
- Screen listing of the entire device
The specific use case I am looking for for implementation is a web game in which players can be on the couch in front of the TV. They play the game by visiting the website in Chrome, rather than downloading the application. If they were on laptops, it would work simply because on the desktop Chrome Chrome you can specify a specific tab where some application is shown on the TV, for example, in the Hello World example. But that was not possible with Android.
Does anyone know how to create a mobile web page or any plans for the future?
