Cannot find microphone enable button in Opera browser

Like HiDeo, according to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/SpeechRecognition#Browser_compatibility , they do not support webkitSpeechRecognition.

But the real problem is that you are not getting hints to let you use your microphone. Double validation.

Always allow access to cameras and microphone:

  • From the main menu, select "Settings."
  • Select websites in the sidebar.
  • In the "Media" section, select allow access to cameras and a microphone.

Ultimately, even if you get a microphone problem, you still cannot use speech recognition. If you really want to support Opera (and other browsers), you should consider using IBM bluemix or Google’s new speech for text (in beta).

This is not how it works in 2019 on the current version; You will not see the "Sites" option, which was in older versions.

  1. From the main menu, select "Settings."
  2. Select Privacy & Security
  3. Select Content Settings
  4. Choose a microphone
  5. Decide whether to ask before access.
  6. You will need to provide access on the page of the application with which you want to use a microphone, i.e. Discord
  7. Make sure that you have not blocked this application, i.e. Discord.
