How to make napkins on a horizontal recyclerview bring only the next item in sight - Android

Question

I have a horizontal RecyclerView that shows 4 cards numbered 1-4. These cards occupy the entire width of the screen, so only one card can be fully visible at a time. The user is given the first card when they are laying the card to the left, like this,

RecyclerView scroll all the way to number 4. I don't want this.

I want the napkin to bring the next card (number 2) to the view

Similar to how Androids ViewPager .
