When it is said that crossdomain.xml will be in the root folder, where will it be in IIS?

Will it be wwwroot, C, the root virtual directory where the assets are located, or the same folder in which the assets are located?

Meaning, if I have a virtual directory "virdir" with a subdirectory "swf", which really looks like C: \ somedir \ assets \ swf \, wherever crossdomain.xml is needed so that my swf application another server can access swfs?

you need to have access to it as http://yoursite.com/crossdomain.xml , and where would you put it?

Typically, I put it next to my index.html for the site.

wwwroot will probably work for you.
