SharePoint Change Forms in State Machine Workflows

Recently, I have been puzzled by work on the SharePoint state machine workflow. I was hoping to add some form of modification to the workflow so that I could reassign the task during its state. Unfortunately, the modification forms are apparently not documented for use with finite state machine workflows (quite simply for a sequence of workflows), wherever I am. Using ScopeHandlingActivity and its associated event handlers does not seem to be very well connected to the state machine.

Has anyone received modification forms for working in the state machine workflow and how did you do it?

Thanks!

Why don't you just change the form of the task and expand it by reassigning the task?

Firstly, I know that this is a super-old thread, but since it was high in the search engine results, I decided that I would put the solution here.

All you have to do is with your modification GUID:

  • Add EnableWorkflowModification Activity in Operational State Initial
  • Add an EventDriven event to the WORKFLOW area. This is the outer boundary in design mode.
  • Add OnWorkflowModification activity to this EventDriven event.

Additional notes:

  • The GUID in the tag MUST BE FAVORITE
  • Use a separate token for modification actions that the owner defines as the workflow itself, so it is always in the scope

Hope this answer is still useful for someone in the future!
