Is there a maximum length for userPrincipalName in Active Directory?

I am writing an application related to Active Directory and I need to save userPrincipalName in the database table, but I do not know how large the field should be.

No lengths are specified in MSDN , nor in RFC 822 . Now, before I get back to DOMAIN \ Username, which has a specific length ( sAMAccountName , less than 20 characters, NETBIOS domain name no more than 15 chars), I wonder if anyone knows which limit is either standard or an implementation like in Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 domains.
