Time Estimation for SAP / ABAP

I am looking for a table or a list of standard time estimates for developments in SAP / ABAP, something customizable in some variables according to the development team, project complexity, etc.

Something like:

Simple Module Pool -> 10 hours Complex Module Pool -> 30 hours Definition of Dictionary -> (0,4 * number_of_tables * average_fields ) hours ALV Report -> (2 * number_of_parameters) hours

I searched, but haven’t found anything yet. I found the AboveSoft Adaptive Estimator, which looks like a software tool to do what I need, but I prefer something ... a manual, an official or standard spreadsheet.

Do you know anything like that?

Thanks in advance.

Updated as noted in Rob C.'s comments to provide additional information for future related issues:

What I'm looking for is a set of formulas, any metric system that can be applied to time estimates (or even created) for SAP development.

I am looking for a technique / tool / method for evaluating work, duration, cost, something similar to COCOMO II, FP, ESTIMACS or SLIM for SAP development.

If I read this right, you are looking for something to evaluate how long it will take someone to program the application. I would doubt that the official table really exists.

Development time varies greatly. The experience of the programmer, the complexity of the requirements, the clarity of the requirements and dozens of other factors affect how long development takes. Therefore, even if an official table exists, it may not be accurate.

the formulas that you put together to illustrate in your question are just as good as any others - in other words, you are asking for something meaningless.

the reason is that no formula can take into account really important variables:

  • Your team.
  • your client
  • your environment
  • Your standards and best practices.

all of which will have a much larger drag coefficient than any other members

If you want an accurate assessment, ask your developers and evaluate their accuracy.

if you really think that such things can be reduced to formulas , please resign him immediately

I am not a project manager, I am only an internship in the SAP team. Due to my experience working in other languages, I know that there are so many variables that it is impossible to automate the evaluation of development time.

But I got the job of finding a “standard estimated time table” for SAP / ABAP developments, and as a newbie to SAP, I realized that there could be any metric standardization.

I think I have a rude joke from my manager ...

Sorry for the inconvenience of my question.

Let me guess ... are you a project manager?

There is no “one way” in programming, especially in the highly specialized world of ABAP.

You can use Excel, Numbers, Gant charts to do it manually, but you cannot find the automatic thing ANY , you have to do it yourself!

Hi, I understand your need ... I am a project manager and evaluator, and what you are looking for is a table for evaluating efforts, and also develop ABAP components ... You need a table of tables in which, based on the complexity of the component and the complexity of change, you can get an estimate. (this is based on one evaluation method called Object Points http://yunus.hacettepe.edu.tr/~sencer/objectp.html )

This effect is only for Codding and Unit Testing, you, as the project manager (or your project manager!), Must accept this estimate as input, but you need to evaluate other project coefficients to get a complete "project estimate" ..

I did not find this table or some estandar table for bencharmak, so I am working on a project with my factory software to create our own table ...

I hope this will be helpful to you. Yours faithfully,

it just doesn't exist. General indicators are so general that they are useless. Project managers must find other ways to make their life easier, for example, resign, but not try to quantify events as if peeling potatoes.

Try the new AboveSoft tool called AboveSoft Predictor. You can download it here www.abovesoft.com

It connects to the SAP system, and you can easily (graphically) generate your own assessment templates, which are saved in SAP.
