How do I make an iPhone web app look like a non-web app?

I am considering creating a small iPhone application for the iPhone.

I started reading and experimenting with special meta tags and attributes registered in the Apple Web Application Center :

  • viewport
  • apple-enabled mobile web applications
  • apple mobile web style bar status app
  • -webkit-radius border
  • -webkit-image borders
  • AutoCorrect
  • autocapitalize
  • apple touch icon
  • -webkit-text-size-adjust

This made me think that there should be a good guide that I can keep track of in order to best simulate the default style and behavior for devices other than web applications.

Then I came across a Joe Hewitt iUI project .

He received two demonstrations that are impressive:

After testing multiple user interface interfaces for iphone web application, I think JQTouch is the best

Check out the iUI library - http://code.google.com/p/iui/ :

Based on the iPhone running Joe Hewitt's iPhone, iUI has the following features:

  • Create iPhone navigation menus and interfaces with standard HTML
  • Using or knowledge of JavaScript is not required to create iPhone home pages.
  • Ability to handle phone orientation changes
  • Provide a more “iPhone-like” experience for web applications (on or off the iPhone).

Besides the bizarre effects that can be done with most libraries, such as a script, etc ... one bizarre thing that happens in iPhone iPhone applications is the backward compatibility with "#" even when using ajax calls, you can use Google for "Really Simple History" to find the right library to use in this case.

I think the best framework for the iPhone Web App is jQTouch http://www.jqtouch.com/ This is a jQuery plugin. You can check out the Showtime app that jQTouch created.

Take a look at Swipy.js . I didn’t like how this framework worked, so I did it, which includes other big projects:

This is progressively enhanced with Modernizr, adds smooth transitions with jquery.transit, adds a swipe edge back / forward navigation with Hammer.js, adds Fastclick for taps, solves bookmarked internal links and a nice navigation bar with FontAwesome icons.
