How to force, that is, request a digital certificate

Well ... I have a webpage that requires a digital certificate.

When I first load the page, I get a certificate request dialog box. If I select it, then everything will work fine :) However, if I click "cancel" and then enter the page again, I will not be asked to receive a certificate ... The page is displayed, and "the page requires a client certificate". An error is displayed.

How to "force" a dialog box to select a certificate to display every time you enter a page?

This is not an IE problem, this is a web server problem. You must set up your website on the server to require digital certificates. In IIS, this is done through the Directory Security tab of the site properties. You should check "Require SSL", then you can select the option "Require client certificates".

With IE, you must do this: in the menu "Tools"> "Internet Options"> "Security"> "User Level ...", the explanatory text has been changed.

  • In IE6 and IE7, it reads: Do not ask for a client certificate selection if there are no certificates or only one certificate.
  • In IE8, it now reads: Do not request client certificate selection if only one certificate exists.

Unplug it!
