Minimal laptop for iPhone development?

I am developing an iPhone. Most likely, I will work on the go, so I need a laptop for development. What will be the minimum laptop that I could use to develop for the iPhone? Most likely, the development will include the work of OpenGL.

You will need an Intel processor and OS X Leopard (10.5). For a new machine, a starter white MacBook will do the trick. If you are on a budget, I will follow the Apple recovery page or even resort to eBay or Craigslist (you run the risk of getting a lemon, but poppies tend to have long life spans and I bought several used cars without problems, of course, YMMV .)

Performance requirements are (relatively) meager. As long as it has an Intel chip (Core Duo or Core Duo 2), you are gravy.

The iPhone itself is not a particularly powerful device, so the laptop you use should not be too powerful. I have a basic MacBook and it works well for iPhone development. Keep in mind that you need to have an Intel processor. Thus, the G4 Powerbook, or similar, is not going to cut it.

You can do this with any standard white Macbook based Intel. In fact, the cheapest MacBook MacBook you can find will do the trick. If you choose ebay even the older MacBook Mac Core Duo base then do it.

Find a used one with an extended warranty, it will work fine. If you have a successful application, you will still have the money to buy whatever you want. Do not let this containment begin to create something valuable right now.

I'm working on a MacBook 2Gb - one of the latest production models, not Pro - with an attached iPod touch. It works great.

In many ways, you don’t want anything too powerful, since your target system does not have much processing power in itself.

Any (new) Mac laptop you get should be able to handle iPhone application development just fine. The iPhone is much less powerful than even the weakest of the current line of Mac laptops, so any of them should work fine.

If you really want to save money, you might even become old Mac laptops. Personally, I would say that you should consider only those Intel-based processors, but I do not know if this was a real requirement.

Like others, I offer any Macbook. And if you want cheaper cheaper, you can take a look at the Apple Special Deals store , where you will find updated Apple-certified Mac computers.

My recommendation is this: choose one with a screen size to fit your lifestyle. (I use 13 "because I often grab my laptop on my bike, although 15 or 17" will make me more productive.) As soon as you choose the screen size, you will get the fastest that your budget allows (I'm kind of cheepskate - so that I have an entry-level one.) As soon as you buy one, update your memory from a third-party vendor (they are much stronger than Apple).

You can upgrade to the MacBook Pro 13 "or 15" depending on your budget. You can find all information about the MacBook Pro on the Apple website at http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/ or if you have budgetary restrictions, run the Mac Mini http://www.apple.com/mac -mini /
