Fully transparent windows in Pygame?

Is it possible to get a completely transparent window in Pygame (see the desktop through it)? I found how to create a window without a frame, but there seems to be no obvious way to make it transparent.

I would like to get attached to system technologies / platforms, as long as there are solutions for both Windows and Mac OS X, but I'm not sure which direction to look.

The only topic that I could find was recommended to use wxPython , which I cannot do for this particular project (should be Pygame).

PyGame uses an SDL that does not support transparent windows. Although, at least in Linux, making it transparent, is executed by the window manager, not the application.
