Are you coding existing applications or working on new projects?

How has the current economic downturn affected the way you / your team work?

I strive to make more improvements compared to the new development a year ago.

This question arose during another discussion in the pub, where we discussed whether it is good to work on application support or work on new projects, which is more stable in the foreseeable future when companies cut costs in all areas.

Mostly I am expanding existing applications. I would say that this is probably safer for the two options. Most likely, people are already using existing applications, and because of this you do not need to convince them, it would be useful to start using them. From a business perspective, it’s much easier to justify the costs than you already have than to try and add more.

Number 3: rewriting existing applications (the guy who did my suuuuccccckckkked work).

There is definitely a recession on a large scale or new projects in general, although this is a kind of software equivalent of saving not costs. This is actually the literal equivalent of what is the problem of overcoming the recession.

Good question. I am currently working on a project that has good customers and decent income. Thus, the economic downturn has not affected much.

My suggestion is that there is a choice between choosing to expand existing projects or new projects, the better for generating revenue generating existing projects. And investment in R&D projects can be reduced.

I believe that the “support” and correction of errors in existing projects will not cause your big problem and, therefore, experience. It can be a huge waste of time for a career.

I am working on porting an existing business application to a new platform that combines some aspects of working with an existing application and some new things.

New because everything comes from Windows Forms to ASP.NET AJAX, and there are a few changes associated with this process when it comes to GUIs and things-based events, but also partially works with existing things because business rules are the same, the database is the same, although we gradually made the improvements necessary for them.

On the other hand, the company I work with in grocery stores that positively impacted the larger number of people who ate at home, so even though they are in Michigan, everything is going well for the company, and we can afford to move This is an intranet application.

A good role in this is that I learn all the new things on the platform, but we don’t need to go outside and enter user data for some new use cases, plus we can work with input obtained from the WinForms version.

I am rewriting our existing applications. The fundamental design of the original applications was not flexible enough to meet our new business needs. In combination with the dubious coding practice (lack of separation of model, look and control, and aging technologies with large NIH syndrome), it was decided that rewriting the off-center parts of our applications would be best.

Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure that I am 100% qualified for this, but it seems that I consider myself the most qualified of our team.

90% of my work is maintenance, or it seems to be. But it is surprising that I have four new development projects, ongoing or under development.
