Tips / tricks for using Lucene

I work on the job portal using asp.net 3.5 I used Lucene to work and resumed searching. I would like to know tips / recommendations, if any, regarding Lucene performance optimization, scalability, etc.

Thank you, ton!

I documented how I used Lucene.NET (in BugTracker.NET) here:

One thing you should keep in mind is that it is very difficult to group or replicate lucene indexes in large installations, such as bad scripts or distributed systems. Therefore, you should have a good way to replicate your index jobs or the entire database.

If you use sorting, keep an eye on the size of the comparators. When sorts are used, for each document returned by the search appliance, a comparator object for each SortField will be stored in the Sort object. Depending on the size of the documents and the number of fields you want to sort, this can be a big headache.
