Comparison of available .net management libraries

What .net management libraries would you recommend as mandatory for the enterprise?

  • May be free / not free
  • Must at least contain a real powerful Datagrid
  • Ajax functionality

Are there any comparisons?

I used Telerik ASP.NET before it happened, I will also say: DevComponents WinForms controls ... very cool stuff.

I will listen to Developer Express . I have used several other component suppliers in the past, but in terms of team participation with my customers and support , they are top notch.

Online demos of their ASP.Net, WPF, and Silverlight components.

It depends on how much coordination time you are willing to spend on how the set of user interface controls works. For instance. WinForms DevXpress controls get a little used to the fact that some property names do not match the standard Winforms controls. However, this allows you to work with the DevXpresss style system.

In the past, I found that DevXpress works well for WinForms, but is less suitable for Asp.net. I think this is due to the fact that no two companies structure the complex web application in the same way, therefore it is very difficult for complex controls such as Grid to get into the existing Asp.net application. 101 ways to make Ajax just makes it worse.

Some management vendors provide simple controls that quickly learn and migrate to existing code, others that you must buy to do this. Decide if you want the supervisor to tell you how to structure your application.

I will put the hat for Telerik for ASP.NET/AJAX. Yes, they can be considered a "virus", but with additional functionality and user interface design out of the box I will add an additional 5 thousand data here and there. You said "enterprise", so I assume that the cost is not a problem, if then Telerik is the winner.

We use Infragistics for most of our needs, primarily for managing the grid and dates. In addition, we use XtraReports from DevXpress for a reporting tool.

Niether are ideal, but they offered the best hack for the dollar for both Windows development and ASP.NET, because they provide both in one set.

I would also look at Telerik, not use them, but from the fact that, as I heard, they look like Infragistics.

EDIT: As an added note, I find it better to stick to 1 or 2 sets of controls than to select an individual user from multiple providers, which makes it simple and easy to learn the structure of controls for deployment. sicne most will use some common libraries with a set of controls.

Although it depends on your project size and requirements, I recommend DevXpress and Telerik (Web / Windows). I used ComponentArt, Telerik, DevXpress, and I think Telerik is better if you are developing web applications. And devXpress is better in Winforms. By the way in development, in some cases, I have encountered especially performance problems in Telerik products. However, Telerik is a good choice for web development.

We used syncfusion to improve the capabilities of the datagrid.

I made a comparison back in 2007, see Infragistics controls versus devexpress and Janus controls

I would really like to make a little comparison on my own.

  • What are your application / development goals (fast development, good UX, good looks, performance, winning or a web interface that needs to be controlled ...)
  • Gather Possible Suppliers
  • Make a quick test tool with different vendors
  • Let different developers evaluate controls / vendors
  • Blog about your work and let us know :-)
