Eclipse Focus F2 for Obsolete Members

In Eclipse, F2 / focus or hover on a member gives you a popup with javadocs. However, if a member is out of date, you receive a message such as "The blob field is out of date."

Does anyone know if this is a known bug / feature? If so, is there a convenient shortcut to get a javadoc popup for legacy members?

Typically, an alternate use of the deprecated element is in the jadadoc @deprecated tag. Hence the interest.

I observe this behavior even in recent releases of 3.5.

One solution is to click on a function and open a javadoc view.
Even if the method is deprecated, javadoc will appear in the javadoc view.

Another solution:

Preferences > General > Editors > Text Editors > Annotations

Click on the warnings, deselect Text As .

The underline disappears and you can hover over javadoc in F2 / focus mode.
