How can I unlock my sa account in SQL Server 2005?

We have moved the database from SQL 2000 to the new SQL 2005, which is used with the intranet page to display and update data. Now we cannot log in using the sa account, since the page settings use the old password to log in and seem to have blocked the sa account.

I assume that using the sa account for this page was not such a great idea, but it still does not help, since we cannot log in to create a new one.

Is there a way to unlock my sa account without being able to log in as sa?

If your system has been configured with mixed access, you must be able to log in using the administrator password. Then you can change the password. You can do this with any administrator account.

We could only log in using Windows authentication while on the server itself. Once we have developed this, we will run the command:

ALTER LOGIN sa WITH PASSWORD = 'your_password_here' UNLOCK

in the SQL management studio, fixed the password for entering the web.config file and everything works.

It turns out that password policies can be applied in SQL Server 2005, so repeated incorrect logins blocked the account.

If you have administrative privileges, you can "cancel" SQL to enable sa through the SQL Server Surface Area Setup tool. You will also want to enable SQL accounts, in addition to Windows logins only ...
