Is there a faster backup and restore method for mysql?

Sql Server and Oracle have commercial products such as Idera (Sql Safe) and Quest (LiteSpeed) that significantly speed up backup and recovery.

Does mysql have commercial software?

I work with large volumes of data in mysql, and if we need to restore it, it takes 8-10 hours. Therefore, I hope to switch to a commercial product that can do this faster.

Any thoughts?

If a commercial option works for you, check out InnoDB Hot Backup . They say that the backup time is comparable to the time the file was copied, and recovery is faster.

You can check xtrabackup . This is still alpha, but according to the announcement of the latest version , it "shows excellent stable results in our tests."

I have not tried to know its performance, but it looks lower level than the SQL output that mysqldump generates.

Online backups are not exactly what you are looking for. The tools out there that exist for MySQL do not provide much of the functionality that other DBMS vendors have. If you enable the MySQL binary logs, you can restore the โ€œpoint in timeโ€. However, the initial load will continue forever.
