Silverlight High Traffic Public Sites

Which sites are you familiar with with Silverlight? This information will help us decide when to adopt the Silverlight platform.

Sites must be open and considered high speed. (at least 300,000 views per month).

We are a Microsoft store, and Silverlight is based on .NET, so it is very attractive to us. But in my research, there are only a few high-traffic public websites that use Silverlight: the NBC Olympics site and the Major League Baseball site (which is switching to Flash).

The following open access sites use Silverlight. I don’t have any data to show that they meet your “high volume” criteria, although I am sure that the NCAA, NBC Olympics and Microsoft Downloads are easily qualified.

For more, check out the Silverlight storefront at http://silverlight.net/showcase/ .

I believe netflix uses silverlight as an option. I am not a subscriber, so I can’t confirm.

The only other site I could find was CBSSports.com when they used Silverlight to cover the NCAA tournament.

The reason that Major League Baseball has switched from Sliverlight to Flash is because many people watch baseball at work (?!?). They are having trouble installing Silverlight, as PCs in a corporate environment are usually locked and users cannot install software on them. But almost all PCs have Flash installed. Setanta Sports has launched an interactive video site based on Silverlight. It’s impossible to judge by traffic since it was broadcast this week, but I expect it to become quite high
