What logging tools do you use for Windows?

I am looking for adding logging to an application, and I am considering using Kiwi syslogd and a free library (clSyslog) to send log messages to daemons. I looked briefly at log4c and found that compiling it with VC ++ would take me longer than mine.

What tools do you use and recommend for registering messages?

In C ++, I use a lot of log4cxx . I do not understand why this is a problem for compilation, it works like a champion. This brings many benefits. To name just a few, you can redirect your log statements to the syslog or windows event log without touching the code base — just change the configuration.

My escort is especially useful for cross-platform stuff. You can see Boost.Log . Please note that this is rejected if submitted and therefore is not part of the standard distribution. AFAIK, the author was planning to rewrite this, though.

I love Poco :: LogStream . This is a framework, but it does have a really good level of logging, which acts like log4j and the like with regard to configuration, but uses STL for implementation. Very nice.

I used the John Torjo framework (version 1 - not 2). It worked very well, so I guess the second version will be as well.
