Falling Down Internet Explorer

Is there a way to hide the border of the popup menu in IE (so that it looks flat, blends in with the background)? In Firefox, it’s easy enough to set the border to 0px, but IE still creates the border even if you set the border to 0px.

This is not possible in IE. They do not allow styling the drop-down component of the list, with the exception of the text inside it (i.e., Red Text).

IE actually uses a Windows-level control rather than a browser control, so it is rather limited.

Change When this message was originally made, a stable version of IE8 has not yet been released. According to comments, IE8 supports border styling. However, even ~ 2 years after the release of IE8, you still should not count on all your users who have IE8 +.

Recently, I saw that some toolboxes fly out of the 5000-pixel drop-down list, replace it with a special control and use javascript to connect the two controls.

IE8 supports changing the border of the descent, but IE6 does not.
