Install an old iPhone OS on a development device

I want a rollback of the second generation iPod Touch from version 3.0 to version 2.2.1 so that I can test my application there. The documentation lists the operating systems as available in the dev center, but I cannot find them, but for beta 3.1. Apple simply hid them where I didn’t look, or these files are no longer available, and if so, is there an alternative to rolling back the device?

I found a site that is an interface to the Apple update feed , listing all available firmware for both iPod touch and IPhone. Using Xcode Organizer, then you can download new firmware to the development device, however, to lower it, you must put the device in DFU mode

Basically, you need to find 2.2.1 software yourself. Therefore, I always keep my firmware.

The first thing to note is that rolling back older versions is not officially supported.

Perhaps because of this, lowering is not a simple point-and-click exercise. I found a guide here . Most of the complexity is related to the iPhone baseband firmware, which should not be a problem with iPod touch.

If you use Google, you can usually find them.

Apple is trying to hide them because they are paid updates (grr).
