Web Development Requirements for iPhone Mac / Windows?

I plan to create a web application for the iPhone, and I just wanted to know what is required for web development?

Can I do web development on a Windows computer? Does Apple provide any iPhone plugin so we can develop a web application using Windows?

What is required for development on a Mac?

If you are building a web application, you can download Safari for Windows and view it there.

You can also use Joe Hewitt iUI to make your application look and feel all iPhone-y.

? If you intend to create a web application, the application runs in a browser. To use your application, the user uses Safari (on the iPhone). Apple does not control web applications.

If you mean, embed your INSIDE web application in your native iPhone application, you will need a Mac to create a shell, for the main application you can use any system that you need.

May I suggest a look at phonegap (if you are looking for an iPhone app).

Check out these three apple sites:

http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/codinghowtos/Mobile/GraphicsMediaAndVisualEffects/index.html

http://developer.apple.com/safari/

http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/navigation/CodingHow-Tos.html

I would carefully look through these pages, and at least download safari for Mac or Windows.

Yes, you can develop it on the windows. These are just web applications.

For mac or windows, the latest safari and public website is probably all you need. Check out the Google engine for a good development site that supports a database / data warehouse. www.appspot.com

In addition, you can watch webapps on a regular computer. http://www.apple.com/webapps/travel/staycation.html

I assume that you are talking about creating a web application designed for use with iphone.

The iphone uses safari as a browser. You can download it for use in windows, and it should give you an accurate idea of how your application will look when rendered on iphone. However, to check how well your application works on the phone, and if it is really accessible via the touch screen, I think the only way to be sure is to check with the iPhone.

You can use window safari to check the rendering, but for the final tests you need to use a real iphone to understand how your users will experience it.
