Crystal Web Viewer ActiveX will not be installed on IE8 and Windows 7

Windows 7 + IE8 + Crystal Report 11 Report + ActiveX Web Viewer will not be installed. An ActiveX prompt will appear, UAC is approved for installation, then the page will refresh, and the process will start more than 4 times until I get a warning script.

Does anyone else run into this problem or a possible solution?

A workaround is to download the ActiveXViewer.cab file, extract the contents to a folder in C: \ on the computer used to view reports and register the DLL manually.

The cabinet file URL for Crystal 11 (XI Release 1) looks something like this: http: //yourwebsitewherecrystalisinstalled/crystalreportviewers11/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab

Once you have the contents in a folder on your hard drive, register the DLLs. You only need to register DLLs that are not provided by the OS. For Crystal 11 (XI Release 1) the command to register the DLL:

REGSVR32 / S CRVIEWER.DLL

REGSVR32 / S REPORTPARAMETERDIALOG.DLL

REGSVR32 / S SVIEWHLP.DLL

REGSVR32 / S SWEBRS.DLL

Update. To install Crystal Web Viewer ActiveX from a website in IE8 on Windows 7, try:

1) Log in to the local administrator account (but not the built-in local administrator)

2) Add the site to the list of trusted sites

3) Enable UAC at the default level - reboot if necessary

4) Launch IE8, browse the site and click on tips

Once the control is installed, it can be started by non-administrators on the same computer, and UAC can be disabled / reduced.

Case 1: Crystal Reports Add-in Hint

  • When downloading reports through the application, if Crystal Reports Active X is missing,

  • he will prompt you to install

  • Unlock any popup if required

  • Once it is installed, reports will be downloaded

Situation 2:

  • Launch Active X Viewer 11.5 Setup

  • If the report is not loaded, start Active X Viewer 11.5. Situation 3: Manually register the DLL In case the report has not yet been loaded by situation 1 and 2,

  • Launch Active X Viewer 11.5 Setup

  • Manually register the following DLLs as follows:

o REGSVR32 \ path \ CRVIEWER.DLL
o REGSVR32 \ path \ REPORTPARAMETERDIALOG.DLL
o REGSVR32 \ path \ SVIEWHLP.DLL
o REGSVR32 \ path \ SWEBRS.DLL

Note: β€’ Internet Explorer 7 or 8 must be installed on these machines β€’ You must be logged in as an administrator

Just in case, someone is looking for a solution for Windows 7: run secpol.msc. In the "Local Policies" section, click "Security Settings." All policies are on the right, look for the user account control at the bottom. You need to enable "Run all administrators in administrator approval mode." Turn on "Admin Approval Mode for the built-in administrator account." You will need a reboot for the policy. Restart the active prompt and install it without problems.

I found that the answer given below on Rocky's link did the trick. Copy solution here:

β€œWhat I ended up with is right-clicking on IE9 and starting as administrator> Internet Options> Advanced> (scroll down to the security section), checkβ€œ Allow software launch or installation, even if the signature is invalid. ”Close the browser, re-open (Run as administrator again) and run the report.

This allowed me to install activeX. I re-enabled protection, restarted the browser, and viewing reports still works.

Make sure you add the URLs to your trusted sites or to your sites in Intranet through the IE 8 Internet Options tabs ... that made a big difference to me.
