Where can I find beautiful and promising Vista user interface icons?

Well, I know that Visual Studio comes with several user interface icons, but there are few and most of them, they are a bit outdated and do not fit very well in Vista or Seven.

I like the pretty interfaces, and I like the interfaces where they fit and watch part of the OS. One of the problems associated with this is the interface icons, I can not find good 16x16 icons (for menus and toolbars) that work great with the latest versions of Windows.

In search of free material, mostly, but I would like to know about commercial (but not very expensive) alternatives.

Does anyone know any good icons that can fit into Vista / Seven?

I am a big fan of the icons available here: http://www.iconfinder.net

They seem pretty relevant and have a pretty decent selection to choose from.

Most badges are licensed under the GPL.

I like silk badges
They are under a Creative Commons License - free to use and distribute.

The main limitation, which is the size of the icons you need, is 16x16, not much space to give the β€œwizz bang” effect that the new OS is aiming for. This century has more screen real estate with higher resolutions (and sometimes even DPI), the icon is also growing. To maintain the same look of Vista and Windows 7, you can increase the size of the icons.

If you need smaller badges, the silk collection mentioned is already large. Here is a good list of smaller icon sets:

Here's another great icon pack I've just come across (via Google Blogoscoped ).

Not sure how they look like Vista. They look more like a silk icon pack from FamFamFam. Good thing they offer a 32x32 version as well as 16x16.

All of them are Creative Commons.
