How to get all Twitter links?

There are many sites on Twitter that offer additional services:

  • hashtags.org
  • tweetmeme.com
  • repeets.com
  • dailyrt.com
  • backtweets.com

Everyone has something in common: they seem to get all the updates from Twitter. Otherwise, they could not offer such complex services with high quality results.

But how do they do it? Twitter has an XMPP (Firehose) channel, but not everyone is allowed to receive data from it.

Are there any approaches that you can recommend or which you think they use? The normal API is too limited, isn't it?

Twitter has a new Streaming API that looks like anyone can access it, it is still under alpha, but this is what tweetmeme.com is possible using.

Quote from http://apiwiki.twitter.com/Rate-limiting

White list

Some applications find that the default limit is insufficient. In such conditions, we offer a white list. You can whitelist both accounts and IP addresses. Every white person, whether an account or an IP address, is allowed 20,000 requests per hour. If you are developing an application that should be considered for whitelisting, please fill out the whitelist request form. Our leadership review process can take up to a week. if you have a whitelist that needs to be updated by adding or removing IP addresses, reuse is an explanation of the change. approval or rejection for whitelist requests is sent by email to the email address associated with the account that is submitted to the application.

Check out tweetSharp http://tweetsharp.com/ . This is a .Net library that simplifies access to the Twitter API. I used it in a small tweet app for my company name. There is also a dnrTV episode if you want to know more.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by

"Normal API too limited"

Of course, you don’t have access to all the tweets that return to the beginning, but as I understand it, there is enough enough to create a pretty decent Twitter client.

Check out Twitterizer . This is simpler than any other ASP.NET Twitter library I have ever used.
