How to get an ASP.Net MVC application on my host?

Is there anything special you usually need to do? I have a DailyRazor.Net Starter account, but it will not launch my MVC application. Any ideas?

I contacted the support, but they said that this should work, but it’s not ... I thought that someone here could help me faster.

I went through this with Gearhost.

You must install the following on your IIS server:

They need to enable the following settings:

If IIS 6 is running on Windows 2003:

  • Enable wildcard mappings : ( 1 ), ( 2 )

If it runs IIS 7 on Windows 2008, you don’t have to do anything.

Edit:

Regarding your Linq error; this means that they probably do not have the correct version of the .NET Framework. I will open a ticket and ask them. If they do not seem to want to help or upgrade your server, there are many hosts that will be, and I can make recommendations if you want.

It looks like the latest version of the .net framework (3.5) is not installed on the host, or if so, your web application may be configured to use an older version of asp.net.

In addition, if they run on IIS6, there are a few additional steps that they can follow:

Try copying MVC assemblies (System.Web. Abstractions, MVC, and Routing) to the Bin folder.

Due to your error, you can try adding the System.Linq file to your bin folder to see if this error gets rid of. Is .NET 3.5 installed on your host?

You need to copy System.Core.dll to the Bin folder.

Alternatively, ask DailyRazor to install .Net 3.5. (They may not listen, though)
