As you can see if the file is binary in cvs

I would like to check if the file was added as a binary, but I don’t know what to look for in the status of cvs or cvs log .. any hints?

cvs status -v binaryfile.gif

This will show the status of binaryfile.gif, and Sticky Options will show -kb if it is a binary.

Um, my CVS days are long over (good!), But isn't this a -kb option you need to look for? I think cvs status -v will show you this.
