Do you need tools (ObjectAlloc / Leaks) simulator?

This can be a very stupid question, so I apologize in advance. It seems that the tools only work for me when using iPhone Simulator. Is there anything special to make it work when linking the application to the iPhone? Or is it possible? I launch the application in the usual way through Run-> Start with the performace tool, etc., and then I see that it installs the application on the iPhone that I prepared, then it launches the Tools, but nothing. I thought, since it is connected via USB, it will, but cannot make it work.

My device worked with tools after the following steps:

  • Unplug your iPhone.
  • In Xcode, open Organizer.
  • Remove device.
  • Turn on the device.
  • Answer yes when asked if you want to use the device for development.

Start Tools first, and your iPhone is already attached. Select the one you want, and then select the application from the pop-up menu and write it down.

Launch the app on iPhone in debug mode via Xcode. You cannot control the application running directly on the device in the Tools. Connect your device to your Mac, select "Device" as the target instead of Simulator, and then on the "Run" menu, select "Start with Performance Tool"

It works with the device, in Xcode, going to the top panel, and I think it is inside the "build" (I don’t have mac infront because of me so sorry for the foggy position), there you select "run application" with the performance tool "(something like this) and it will start a new instrument session related to equipment. You cannot (as far as I know) just connect directly from the instruments to the device, it must be through Xcode.
