Android How to improve Eclipse performance for projects with lots of resources?

I have the following notifications:

• If I have a project with minimal files in the res folder, the project saves quickly, quickly compiles and runs quickly.
• But if I have a lot of resources, my project saves, compiles and runs for a relatively long period of time. This is very annoying if you are making minor user interface updates, and you always expect Eclipse to generate an R file, etc.

Is there a recipe for how to fix this?
