Database Sync - Best Practice

We have backup servers and backup databases. Both are SQL Server 2008 databases and are hosted on Windows Server 2003.

Can I find out the best practice that people follow to synchronize two databases (in real time and in standby) so that we can make sure that the backup server is working when there is nobody on any server.

It would be great if you could also provide a background document or web links (if necessary).

We do something similar using replication services (in SQL Server).

Launch Guide can be found here.

From the MS SQL Server 2008 Webpage "High Availability - Always On"

For a list of solutions ...

All solutions are used somewhere. For example, we use clustering.

In my head, the available solutions in SQL Server 2008 are Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, and Database Mirroring for high availability. It is also worth mentioning that it does not replace the disaster recovery plan, which also includes backups, etc.
