How to download and install Emacs for OCaml?

I feel noticed asking this question, but I have been banging my head on the wall for several seconds ...

This directory is linked to the emacs website: http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/emacs/ . Which file do I want? I downloaded emacs-23.1.tar.gz and unpacked it, but I do not know what to do now. I can not find the files to execute.

(I am running Vista.)

And then I want to use tuareg mode with OCaml. Help?

I believe that you downloaded the source code, which is probably not the one you want. It may be easier for you to go to the download site and download the binary files.

Getting Tuareg to work is as easy as downloading it and following the installation instructions . Some options that I like for Tuareg (but YMMV!):

 (setq tuareg-default-indent 4) (setq tuareg-with-indent 2) (setq tuareg-|-extra-unindent 2)

By the way, configure and it is not much easier to use Virtualbox + Linux VM; if you just want to play with Ocaml / Emacs then it would be easier to do it.

You downloaded the Linux version - instead you should download http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/emacs/windows/emacs-23.1-bin-i386.zip

After that emacs can be started from bin / runemacs

Take a look at EmacsW32 - this is GNU Emacs with several settings to make it more convenient for Windows users: http://ourcomments.org/Emacs/EmacsW32.html
