Failed to register VB ocx components (err 0x80040201)

Question

I have a problem registering some ocx files.

When I execute regsvr32, it returns error code 0x80040201. I am using win xp SP3 and my user has administrator rights.

When I try to register them with another user on the same computer, I can do it without problems, and both users are administrators and have the rights of "full control" on c: \ windows \ system32

Any clue on what's going on here?

There may be a registry error or a dependent dll is missing .

dependswalker can help you determine which DLLs are used by your ocx file, and processmon can show you which reg keys are affected during registration.
