Firebug net monitor settings

Question

I have a problem when I execute an AJAX request. Instead of seeing a regular POST or GET preceding the URL of the action page, I see OPTIONS. Data sent successfully, but there is no response on the action page. What do OPTIONS indicate?

This is due to an AJAX cross domain attempt. Sometimes, something as harmless as requesting http://www.example.com from h ttp: //example.com can cause unexpected behavior.
